Akhand Ramayan Paath
1. Ramayan or Ramcharitmanas is composed by Goswami Tulsidas. Its literal meaning is ‘Lake of the deeds of Rama’. He wrote Ramcharitmanas in Ayodhya on the seventh day of Chaitra which is the birthday of Rama.
2. It consists of seven episodes or kaands which are Baal kaand (childhood), Ayodhya Kaand (Ayodhya episode), Aranya Kaand (forest episode), Kiskindha kaand, Sundar Kaand (pleasant episode), Lanka Kaand and Uttar Kaand (Later episode).
3. It is composed in the four-line quatrains, separated by two-line couplets with occasional soratha and various chhand metres.
4. This path is the continuous recital of Ramcharitmanas for 24 hours by well-trained priests in the form of bhajans and kirtans with the help of dholak, manjeera, harmonium etc.
5. Ramanavami, Navratri, Diwali or during any other auspicious events it can be recited. There is no fixed date or something for the adoration of the lord.
