Solah Somvar Udyapan Katha

1. Udyapan is performed as a concluding ceremony of a Vrat (fasting). Before this puja, the devotee must fast for a set number of days, typically 16 Mondays, with Udyapan taking place on the 17th Monday as the final ceremony.

2. This puja is predominantly done by unmarried girls who wish to find a good husband or by those whose marriage is being delayed. Married women also perform this puja for a happy and prosperous marital life.

3. As this puja is dedicated solely to Lord Shiva, devotees usually begin their fasting from the Shukla Paksha Monday or during the Shravan Month Monday, completing the Udyapan on the 17th Monday. Fasting should not be undertaken during periods.

4. On the day of Udyapan, the devotee should wear clean white clothes, observe the fast, and invite a priest to conduct the puja.

5. Donation is a crucial aspect of Udyapan. The donation can be anything based on one's financial ability, such as money, feeding the poor, or other charitable acts.
